After dabbling in some stand-up comedy for 2 years – I started to embrace the vulnerability that comes with performing my own jokes in front of a crowd. As much as the spotlight lit up my body, the mic and stage acted as a platform to make one’s mental processes visible. The crowd either responds by laughing or not – and I had to be OK with any and all reactions. It took a few deaths for me to resurrect myself and embrace my insecurities surrounding food, fatness and eating disorders.
